The five candidates for Governor of South Carolina in the June 12 primary have been invited to the Aiken Republican Club Forum at Newberry Hall and the AECOM Theater to be held in downtown Aiken on May 29. South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Kevin Bryant, former State Senator Yancey McGill, Former South Carolina Secretary of Labor Catherine Templeton and Businessman and former Marine John Warren are challenging Governor Henry McMaster in the primary. All four of the challengers have confirmed their attendance. The campaign of Governor McMaster objects to the format of the Forum and he has as of yet not committed to attend. The Aiken Republican Club has used the same format for years in previous Forums and none of the challengers have objected.
A meet and greet will be held beginning at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 29 at Newberry Hall. A light lunch will be served. Following the meet and greet, attendees will cross the street to the AECOM Theater where the Forum will be held from 1:00 to 2:30. All candidates will be on stage for a moderated question and answer Forum. A sellout crowd is expected and Club members and their guests are urged to register early. Registration opens on April 24.
